The German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900) has a reputation for being a misogynist (having a negative view of women). Whether to take some of his more outrageous claims seriously is open to debate ("Are you going to women? Do not forget the whip!"). It is important to realise he is equally scathing of men at times! The one relationship that Nietzsche had with a woman (that we know about) is with the philosopher, Lou Andreas Salome.
