Qigong - Qi (Flow of Energy, Life Force)

'Qigong (ch'i kung pronounced 'chee gung') is the ancient art of health maintenance and healing that originated several thousand years ago in China. The qi in qigong means air in Chinese, and also life force, dynamic energy, cosmic breath. Gong means work or skill applied to a discipline, so qigong means breath / energy work.

A person practices Qigong by a combination of exercises including meditation, visualization, circulating and working with qi, breathing and movement. A skilled practitioner of Qigong is able to project Qi to improve the health of another person. The ultimate goal of Qigong is to improve the balance of the functions of the body. It is a physical exercise, meditation and spiritual path.'

Health Benefits

The benefits of Qi Gong are obvious in those who practice it correctly and regularly. These exuberant individuals sleep more soundly; achieve better physical performance and mental harmony of the true health in the unity of mind-body-spirit. They become simply happier in life - regardless the circumstances.

Chi Kung: Moving Meditation

'The Chinese believe to "strain is not to gain." They also believe that one must have a strong mind/body connection to feel "inside the body" and recognize when energy is "out of balance." The practice of this "moving meditation" will enhance the mind/body connection and allow one to have more of a connection with the internal body.

Qigong and Tai Chi are exercises as well as meditations. You will move every muscle, joint, bone, and organ of the body but in a slow and methodical way. Breathing techniques will enhance your practice. The exercises specifically for the joints will help you maintain your flexibility and regain some of the lost flexibility. This is a very gentle program and therefore is perfect for rehabilitation.

This moving meditation will help you to develop focus and concentration but also to build the feeling of peace and harmony. For all of you who are suffer from worry, or perfectionism, Type A personality, and stress illnesses, this is the practice for you!'

Use & Practice in China

'Attitudes toward the scientific basis for qigong vary markedly. Most Western medical practitioners and many practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, as well as the Chinese government, view qigong as a set of breathing and movement exercises, with possible benefits to health through stress reduction and exercise. Others see qigong in more metaphysical terms, claiming that qi can be circulated through channels called meridians.

Today millions of people in China and around the world regularly practice qigong as a health maintenance exercise. Qigong and related disciplines are still associated with the martial arts and meditation routines practiced by Taoist and Buddhist monks, professional martial artists, and their students. Once more closely guarded, in the modern era such practices have become widely available to the general public both in China and around the world.

Medical qigong treatment has been officially recognized as a standard medical technique in Chinese hospitals since 1989. It has been included in the curriculum of major universities in China. After years of debate, the Chinese government decided to officially manage qigong through government regulation in 1996 and has also listed qigong as part of their National Health Plan.'

Qigong Database of Research

'Beginning about 1980, extensive clinical and experimental research on medical applications of Qigong was carried out by scientists in China. Most of these studies were reported only at international conferences, and only a few were published because suitable scientific journals are not available in China.

The Qigong and Energy Medicine Databaseā„¢ is a compilation of references to most of these studies as well as to reports in scientific journals, books and Medline. This Database provides the only record in English of the vast amount of research on Qigong from China as well from other countries. These reports can be used as a guide for improving health and for deciding what further research may be required to confirm promising applications of Qigong.

While few research studies on Qigong conform to strict scientific protocol, the collection of research is too large and significant to be ignored. Now you can search over 4,000 references in English to study clinical and experimental research on Qigong from the original sources.'

History of Qi Gong

To blow out and breathe in slowly, to inhale and exhale, to puff out the old breaths and draw in the new, practicing bear-hanging and bird-stretching, longevity is the only concern. Guiding and pulling, cultivating and nourishing the body favored by those who wish to live long. (Zhuangzi, Guo, 535)

Unify your attention. Rather than listen with the ear, listen with the heart. Rather than listen with the heart, listen with the qi. Listening stops at the ear, the heart stills at following the circumstances. Qi is void, thus it is all encompassing. Only the Way amasses the void, so the void is the fasting of the heart. (Guo, 173)

Extend farthest towards the void, hold steadiest to the tranquility. The ten thousand things all rise together, and I reflect their return. (Gao, 298)

Help Humanity

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
(Mohandas Gandhi)

Albert Einstein"When forced to summarize the general theory of relativity in one sentence: Time and space and gravitation have no separate existence from matter. ... Physical objects are not in space, but these objects are spatially extended. In this way the concept 'empty space' loses its meaning. ... The particle can only appear as a limited region in space in which the field strength or the energy density are particularly high. ...
The free, unhampered exchange of ideas and scientific conclusions is necessary for the sound development of science, as it is in all spheres of cultural life. ... We must not conceal from ourselves that no improvement in the present depressing situation is possible without a severe struggle; for the handful of those who are really determined to do something is minute in comparison with the mass of the lukewarm and the misguided. ...
Humanity is going to need a substantially new way of thinking if it is to survive!" (Albert Einstein)

Biography: Geoffrey Haselhurst, Philosopher of Science, Theoretical Physics, Metaphysics, Evolution. Our world is in great trouble due to human behaviour founded on myths and customs that are causing the destruction of Nature and climate change. We can now deduce the most simple science theory of reality - the wave structure of matter in space. By understanding how we and everything around us are interconnected in Space we can then deduce solutions to the fundamental problems of human knowledge in physics, philosophy, metaphysics, theology, education, health, evolution and ecology, politics and society.

This is the profound new way of thinking that Einstein realised, that we exist as spatially extended structures of the universe - the discrete and separate body an illusion. This simply confirms the intuitions of the ancient philosophers and mystics.

Given the current censorship in physics / philosophy of science journals (based on the standard model of particle physics / big bang cosmology) the internet is the best hope for getting new knowledge known to the world. But that depends on you, the people who care about science and society, realise the importance of truth and reality.

We have a wonderful collection of knowledge from the greatest minds in human history, so people will appreciate your contributions. In doing this you will help a new generation of scientists see that there is a simple sensible explanation of physical reality - the source of truth and wisdom, the only cure for the madness of man! Thanks! Geoff Haselhurst (Updated September, 2018)

A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it. (Max Planck, 1920)
